Privacy Policy

Last updated July 7, 2026. This policy explains how A Grand Story handles family audio, the details you enter, and private podcast content in our iOS app and on this website.

Information we collect

You provide: your email address when you sign in or contact us, the first names and optional ages of your children, the storytellers you add and their relationship, the story topics you choose, and voice recordings. The app also creates a per-install identifier used to link your device to its voices, stories, invitations, and server requests.

How we use information

We use this information to create and deliver private stories in the voices you set up, personalize them with your child's name, sync your family's content across your signed-in devices, run your subscription, provide support, keep the service reliable, and prevent misuse. We also collect anonymized product analytics, such as onboarding progress and playback events, to understand and improve the app without names, transcripts, audio, emails, or free-text content.

Voice recordings and voice cloning

A storyteller's voice is only added with explicit consent, which we record. Voice recordings are stored on your device and uploaded securely so we can transcribe, validate, and prepare the voice. We may retain the approved reference excerpt needed to generate that family's stories. Invite recordings are deleted after import or expiration. The resulting voice is used only to narrate stories for your own family. We never sell voice data and never use it for advertising or to train general-purpose models.

Children's privacy

A Grand Story is set up and managed by a parent or guardian. Before a child is added, the adult confirms that they are the parent or legal guardian and consents to storing the child's first name and age. We use that information only to personalize private family stories. We do not collect child email addresses, child photos, or free-text details about children.

We do not knowingly collect information directly from children, show third-party advertising, or use children's information for behavioral advertising or tracking. Parents can edit or delete a child in the app, delete the account and synced server data, or contact hello@agrandstory.com with parental data requests.

Payments

Subscriptions in the app are processed by Apple through In-App Purchase. We do not receive or store your payment card details; Apple manages billing under its own terms. To gate paid generation, the app sends Apple's signed purchase receipt to our server for verification — it contains no card data.

Sharing

We share information only with the service providers needed to run the product — cloud hosting and audio generation (Modal), Apple for payments, email, and website analytics — and when required by law or to protect the service and our users. We do not sell personal information.

Retention and deletion

Voices, stories, family names, and sync records live on your device and our servers until you delete them in the app, delete your account, or request deletion. Account deletion removes the account and synced server data, including voices, stories, and family names on our servers; stories and voices already on your device are kept because the app is local-first. We may retain limited records when required for security, legal, tax, or billing reasons.

Your choices

You can edit or delete kids, storytellers, voices, and stories in the app, cancel your plan in your device's App Store settings, unsubscribe from any marketing email, or request deletion by contacting us.
